Phenomenological changes in perception due to breath meditation

Project description
This project accompanies the Transcultural Mindfulness Lab (TML) in the international psychotherapy science programme. The aim is to qualitatively explore the changes in perception due to Buddhist breath meditation (Pāli ānāpāna-sati, ‘mindfulness of in- and out-breathing’), whose basics the TML students learn over the period of one academic term. Based on clear briefs participants’ written descriptions (with guidance regarding content focus and word length) are analysed with descriptive phenomenological psychological methods. Additional phenomenological lifeworld interviews may be employed to clarify details.
